The Hague Tribunal’s respect for the Serbian government’s credibility will also play a significant role in the release pending trial of Serbian citizens in detention there, as well as in the transfer of cases to the Serbian judiciary, Stojkovic told national television RTS, according to Beta news agency.
According to Stojkovic, Judge Patrick Robinson said that there should be no delay in meeting the obligations towards the tribunal lest the Serbian government endanger its credibility. Stojkovic expressed satisfaction with the fact that Judge Robinson pointed out a level of credibility the Serbian government enjoys.
He said that the indicted Serbia-Montenegrin citizens he met there explained that this was the first time the state paid attention to them and that they were no longer on their own.
As a defence witness at a hearing in The Hague yesterday, Stojkovic offered the Serbian government’s guarantees for the release pending trial of Milan Milutinovic, Dragoljub Ojdanic, and Nikola Sainovic.
