Addressing reporters, Đurić emphasised that Serbia wants to give additional impetus to relations with the United States through intensive political dialogue, so that the full potential of Serbia-US relations can be achieved in 2026.
According to him, the current political framework, especially during the administration of President Donald Trump, represents a great opportunity to improve this cooperation.
There is no state and national issue for Serbs and for Serbia for which it is not important to gain US understanding and support. And that is our main goal, the head of Serbian diplomacy said.
Đurić announced a meeting with the Executive Director of the US National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), noting that Serbia’s goal is to diversify energy sources and deepen cooperation in that area.
The head of Serbian diplomacy, referring to the broader political context, stressed that Serbia wants to be recognised as a factor of stability in Europe, underlining that Serbia is part of the solution, not part of the problem.
He announced that in talks with US officials he will present Belgrade’s arguments on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and in the region, with the aim of providing even stronger support for Serbia and the Serbian people.
Đurić said that it is of utmost importance to intensify the dialogue at the beginning of the year, which should lead to the implementation of an agreement on strategic partnership and strategic dialogue with the United States, because, as he assessed, without quality relations with Washington, it is not possible to fully achieve Serbia’s key national priorities.
