Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic stated today in Sofia that Serbia wants to speed up the realisation of the project of construction of gas interconnection with Bulgaria, which will boost energy safety and stability in both countries.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev, Mihajlovic pointed to the importance of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad gas pipeline for the energy stability of the region.
She recalled that the prime ministers of Serbia and Bulgaria signed last year the Memorandum on realisation of the project of construction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad gas pipeline, and added that she informed the Bulgarian minister about the activities on the project to date and called on him to speed up its realisation together.
Mihajlovic expressed confidence that the pipeline Nis-Dimitrovgrad will be completed by the end of 2016.
During the meeting Mihajlovic and Stoynev also discussed the project "South Stream" and assessed that Serbia and Bulgaria aim at diversification of routes and sources of gas supply, and better connections between countries of the region.
