Czech Republic supports Serbia on its EU path

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout said today in Belgrade that two countries are connected by decades of friendship that is the basis for a common future in the EU.

Mrkic said at a joint press conference held after the meeting that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established more than 100 years ago, and added that Serbia and the Czech Republic have a common present and future.
He said that the Czech Republic has always supported our efforts toward the EU, adding that this visit is proof that we are constantly consulting each other and seeking ways to speed up the process.
He noted that one of the topics of discussion was economic cooperation and investment opportunities for the Czech Republic to invest in Serbian energy sector and the Serbian Railways.
Kohout said that the Czech Republic has always supported Serbia on its path towards the European Union, and noted that the Union will not be complete as long as Serbia and other Western Balkan countries are not part of it.
The Czech Republic will continue to support Serbia in this respect, not only at the political level, but also at the practical level, he said referring to sharing the experience in the EU accession process.
