Dacic said at a press conference, held during the break of the meeting of government representatives with members of the National Council for Economic Recovery and representatives of trade unions, chambers of commerce and other associations dealing with the Programme of measures for the reform of public sector, that these measures will be in the interest of citizens.
The Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to pass a strategy of economic recovery and underlined that Serbia is not facing bankruptcy, nor does it have problems with solvency.
Dacic announced that with the budget revision, the deficit will be brought to the target limit, to approximately 4.7% of GDP, and he reiterated that salaries and pensions will not be frozen, but that they will not grow beyond the level of salaries in the private sector.
He explained that the lack of revenues in the budget could be solved with new loans, but that the government does not want to do that so as not to increase it public debt even more and the budget deficit.
He said there are possibilities for greater exports from Serbia and that our country might have the biggest economic growth in the region, between 2% and 3%.
Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic underlined that the proposed austerity measures have received support from businessmen and trade unions, which will encourage the government in its further activities.
He said there will be zero tolerance to violations of the financial discipline and the grey economy.
We agreed that the government should not work alone on important systemic laws, but together with trade unions and businessmen, and this refers primarily to changes to the Labour Law, Dinkic stated.
According to him, the aim of the changes is to increase employment and investment and to keep at the same time the elements that protect workers’ rights.
The meeting is being attended by Minister of Health Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Zarko Obradovic and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Goran Knezevic.
