Serbia, China to strengthen cooperation in field of culture, arts

Belgrade/Beijing, 13 May 2013

Minister of Culture and Information Bratislav Petkovic and Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu signed today in Beijing the Programme of cooperation in the field of culture and arts for the 2013-2016 period.

The aim of this document is strengthening cooperation between the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information and the Chinese Ministry of Culture in order to promote cultural ties between the two countries.

The programme entails cooperation in the form of organisation of festivals in both countries and exchange of information on international festivals and other cultural events, as well as the development of cooperation in the field of theatres, opera, ballet and music through exchange of cultural content, artists and professionals.

The programme also envisages support to direct cooperation of novelists, literary translators and publishing houses, as well as the participation of publishers at international book fairs in both countries. In line with this programme, China will be the guest of honour at the next year’s International Book Fair in Belgrade.

In the continuation of his visit to China, Petkovic will participate in the First ministerial forum of cultural cooperation of China and the countries of central and Eastern Europe, reads a statement by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
