Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković opened a bilingual exhibition entitled “Ivo Andrić and Italy – Documents” at the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality in Trieste, organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the celebrated writer.
At the opening, Selaković said that the exhibition in Trieste serves as a reminder that Andrić’s work is not only a part of Serbia’s national heritage, but also of European and world heritage.
The exhibition, prepared by the Archives of Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Culture, is not only a tribute to the great author, but also a testimony to the lasting cultural ties between Serbia and Italy and an example of how cultural diplomacy continues to build bridges of understanding and friendship to this day, he said.
The Minister emphasised that it was a great privilege to open in Trieste – a city that has for centuries been and remains a crossroads of cultures – an exhibition dedicated to Ivo Andrić, a writer who through his work transcended borders, languages and epochs.
Before the opening, Selaković announced that after Italy, the exhibition would also be presented in other countries.
