Dacic said at a press conference held after a meeting with representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo that the government does not want to divide the people, but it wants unity.
The government will continue every effort to lead the country in the right direction as citizens expect from it, taking care of Serbs the north and south of Kosovo, as well as Serbs living in central Serbia and abroad.
The Serbian government has no intention of changing the course that it has taken, and there is full unity on that, he said and pointed out that Serbia does not have time to wait for months to implement the agreement as it fail to make progress in the European integration process.
According to him, the Serbian government has accepted the agreement in Brussels and this agreement will be implemented.
The government has mechanisms for its implementation, but wants the Serbs in northern Kosovo to take part in it too, he said.
The agreement must be implemented regardless of whether someone agrees with it or not, but the question is whether we will do it together, which would be better, Dacic said, adding that the referendum would bring nothing, because Serbs from the north Kosovo clearly would not accept its result.
A referendum is obviously not an option for them, as they are asking for verification of constitutionality of the agreement, Dacic said.
The Serbian government still wants to come to a common understanding with Serbs in northern Kosovo and it will resume talks next week, he announced, adding that Serbs in northern Kosovo are aware of the fact that the majority of citizens of Serbia are in favour of the Brussels agreement, as confirmed by the public opinion polls.
Dacic announced that First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic will have a series of meetings and consultations because Serbia is expected to accept a time frame for implementation of the agreement next week.
