Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic stated that the item of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina obliging the two sides not to block each other on their path to the EU does not actually open the door to Kosovo for participation in international organisations, and not even in the EU.
In an interview to today’s issue of daily Vecernje Novosti, Mrkic explained that in order to get a chair in the most important European and world institutions, Pristina must first get a chair in the UN, which it cannot get without the recommendation of the Security Council.
The Minister underlined that in this respect our country can still count on strong support of two members with the right to veto – Russia and China.
He explained that interim institutions of authority in Pristina can participate only in regional organisations, with a mandatory footnote in the documents from those meetings that the status cannot be prejudged.
