Speaking at a press conference, held in the framework of the
ministerial conference "Combating Organised Crime and Corruption and Judicial Cooperation in Southeast Europe", Dacic and Selakovic pointed out that an effective cooperation requires the establishment of a regional arrest warrant, and joint investigation teams.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of establishing a regional arrest warrant, modelled on the European arrest warrant, which gave positive results in European countries.
The regional arrest warrant would increase efficiency in the detection of offences, their processing and the arrest of perpetrators of the most serious crimes.
Dacic stressed the need for the establishment of joint investigation teams in the region, which would improve the joint fight against organised crime and the exchange of information and evidence necessary for criminal proceedings.
Selakovic recalled that the Serbian parliament has adopted the new Law on seizure and confiscation of the proceeds from crime, which provides for international legal assistance concerning the proceeds of crime.
The conclusion of relevant international agreements in this area would provide a significant contribution to the efficient fight against international crime, the Minister noted.
