Criterion for selection of diplomatic officials their capability to advocate interests of Serbia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic announced that this year there will be more recalls of heads of diplomatic and consular missions due to the expiry of their mandate or unsatisfactory work.
In an interview for the weekly "NIN", Mrkic pointed out that this process has still not been completed, adding that by the end of the summer the term in office will expire for another 20 ambassadors.
He said that in important capitals new ambassadors have already been or will soon be installed, and those countries have their ambassadors in Belgrade, which is a parallel channel of communication.
He specified that Dusko Lopandic has been appointed to the Serbian Mission to the EU, while Mira Nikolic has been appointed charge d’ affaires in France, as a diplomat with several decades of experience.
Mrkic said that the criteria for the selection of new diplomatic officials of Serbia will exclusively be professional knowledge, experience, grades in the previous terms in office abroad, knowledge of languages, but first of all their capability to defend and advocate interests of Serbia.
