Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Suzana Grubjesic stated that the Resolution on basic principles for political talks with interim institutions of self-government in Kosovo-Metohija, adopted by the Serbian Parliament, encourages the continuation of talks with Pristina.
In an interview to today’s issue of daily Vecernje Novosti, Grubjesic said that she hopes that sufficient progress will be made in these talks so that in June Serbia could get the date for the beginning of negotiations on membership in the EU.
She said that all the conditions for obtaining the date have been known for two years already and listed in the conclusions of the European Council for 2011 and 2012 and that there are no new or secret conditions for Serbia.
According to her, in order to get the date for the beginning of negotiations Serbia must make a visible and sustainable progress in the normalisation of relations with Pristina.
That entails implementation of all the agreements reached and the opening of political dialogue, and finding a solution for northern Kosovo, protection of cultural and historical heritage, resolution of property ownership issues and the return of expelled Serbs and non-Albanians.
