Dacic told B92 that our country is expected to perhaps record the biggest economic growth in the region, noting that those will be only minor steps forward, ranging from 1% to 4%.
We need Serbia to have at least a 5% economic growth per year in 2015 and 2016, at the end of our mandate, so that people could sense that they live better. This certainly cannot happen if Serbia stops its European integration, the Prime Minister added.
He repeated that we will get a date for the beginning of EU negotiations if we mange to make a good balance between the dynamics of the European integration and dynamics of negotiations on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija.
According to him, EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton is leading the talks with the desire to bring them to progress in our European integration. However, I think it is not realistic to negotiate the issue of autonomy for Serbs in Kosovo by March, Dacic said.
Therefore it is important not to stop all those negotiations and to have practical solutions that will allow us to move forward, he said.
Speaking about the next meeting in Brussels to be held on 17 January, Dacic said that it will be a step forward and recalled that the topics we have discussed so far referred to implementation of what has been agreed so far in Brussels.
The basic principles for further negotiations will go before the parliament. The one negotiating on behalf of Serbia should in all discussions propose solutions that are in accordance with the substance of the proposal of Serbia, which is autonomy for the Serbs in Kosovo, Dacic concluded.
