Minister of Culture and Information Bratislav Petkovic said today that the adoption of a strategy on culture is envisaged for the next year, as well as of a set of laws in the field of information, which is the obligation of the state in the process of European integration.
In an interview to Tanjug news agency, Petkovic said that the Ministry of Culture and Information will try not to renounce any of the big events while at the same time disposing rationally with available funds.
He underlined that culture surpasses by far in importance the funds that are set aside for it, adding that the Ministry will be dedicated to the completion of works on the Historical Museum of Serbia, the National Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which should be opened in January.
The Minister of Culture recalled that 2013 will be dedicated to observing 1700 years of the Edict of Milan in Nis, which will be a good opportunity to show Serbian culture and diversity to the world.
We expect that our several centuries old tradition will become prominent, Petkovic added.
He underlined that 2013 will be a year of challenges for culture and voiced his hope that the ministry will manage to accomplish all the goals set and improve the situation in the sector of culture in Serbia.
