In an interview with today’s edition of Vecernje Novosti daily, Grubjesic underlined that the government is committed to the European future, and added that European integration is the No.1 state issue.
She noted that Montenegro also got a conditional date for the start of negotiations, after the recommendation of the European Council.
A similar scenario could be applied on Serbia in December and our expectations are realistic because it is a very short deadline.
Talking about specific conditions that Serbia needs to fulfil, Grubjesic said that these conditions will be defined by the European Council, as it already did in the conclusions from December last year and March this year.
According to her, one of the main conditions is the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, i.e. visible and sustainable progress in dialogue with Pristina, and not recognition of Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence.
She said that the rule of law and the fight against corruption are not only the requirements set by the EU, but a vital need of our society.
If we want Serbia to become a well-regulated country, no one should have the dilemma of whether we need an uncompromising fight against corruption, Grubjesic stressed.
