Speaking at a press conference at the Serbian government after the signing of the document, Pajevic explained that with this protocol Germany approved to Serbia €81 million for the projects in the field of energy, infrastructure, development of democracy and improvement of public administration.
He recalled that the current Germany’s development aid to Serbia stands at €1.2 billion, excluding the most recently approved funds.
Kreuz noted that the protocol signed today is a sound basis for the continuation of cooperation with the new Serbian government.
German Ambassador to Serbia Heinz Wilhelm was also present and he recalled that since 2000 Germany has been the largest donor of development aid to Serbia and that Serbia is now among the top ten receivers of this type of assistance.
Wilhelm noted that Germany is very interested in seeing Serbia become an EU member as soon as possible, voicing his expectation that the funds it has approved today will help it on the EU path.
