Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Jovan Krkobabic stated that the adopted budget revision is the best possible solution under the current economic circumstances.
In an interview for today’s issue of Vecernje Novosti daily, Krkobabic underlined that the government made timely moves to alleviate the burden of the crisis on the most threatened categories of population.
The Deputy Prime Minister refuted the public claims that the “13th pension” for the poorest pensioners has placed additional strain on the state budget.
He explained that with around RSD 4 million – the amount of this year’s two instalments for the one-off assistance to pensioners whose pension cheques do not exceed RSD 15,000 – Serbia is also encouraging economic activities.
Krkobabic explained that pensioners will soon return this money to the budget not only through regular payments of their utility bills, but also by helping to boost consumption.
