Chilandar brethren thank Dacic, Serbian government

The abbot of Chilandar monastery, Archimandrite Metodije, sent a letter of gratitude to Prime Minister Ivica Dacic thanking him for the support of the Serbian government and the Ministry of the Interior to the monastery in the dramatic moments of the devastating forest fire on Mt Athos.
“You sent us good people, skilful in their knowledge and occupation, and with a sure hand that gave them courage to fight the devouring flames. They defended Chilandar with chivalry and decisiveness.
The holy monastery of Chilandar has been preserved as a living monument and a source of the eternal synergy of our Lord and the heartiness of our people”, reads the letter which expresses gratitude to Prime Minister Dacic and the government for their timely action to protect the priceless treasure of the Serbian people.
“By caring for the reconstruction of Chilandar, Serbia and its people affirmed their own inner strength and Christian dignity”, adds abbot Metodije’s letter.
