Ministry of Culture monitors developments in region of Hilandar

The Ministry of Culture and Information announced today that Minister Bratislav Petkovic is following the news about the spread of fire on Mt Athos and that the Ministry, in case of imminent danger to the monastery complex, will take urgent measures in accordance with its powers.
The statement said that Minister Petkovic, in order to have more complete information, is in constant contact with the abbot of the monastery Metodije and director of the Hilandar Foundation Milivoje Randjic.
The Ministry of Culture and Information has selected an expert from the Sector for Cultural Heritage Protection to continuously monitor the developments around the monastery of Hilandar, the statement added.
