Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic stated that at today’s session the government adopted a Bill amending the Law on planning and construction, which envisages that the deadline for discounts on the legalisation of illegally constructed facilities be extended until 30 June 2015.
At a press conference following the government session, Dulic recalled that the deadline was originally 30 June this year, but noted that due to the large number of submitted applications and the limited capacity of local self-governments, the decision was made to extend it.
He noted that since the entry into force of the Law on planning and construction, the number of legalised buildings is higher than in the previous 11 years since the process of legalisation began.
The Minister said that the new deadline is more than enough and called on citizens to supplement the documentation and on local governments to better organise and speed up the process of legalisation.
Dulic said that the original plan was to extend the deadline for only one year, that is by mid-2013, but the deadline was extended after consultation with representatives of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, construction companies and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
