At a regional conference on the inclusion of people with disabilities into society, Martinovic said that much work remains to be done in the field of enforcement of these laws.
He pointed out that our country has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, noting that the degree of protection of these persons has been raised to a higher level in national legislation.
Serbia also adopted the Law on the prohibition of discrimination, he added.
UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia William Infante said that for people with disabilities in Serbia, the most important to do as much on law enforcement.
Infante explained that the financial incentives for employers of people with disabilities increased the number of employees from 300-400 to 3,500 at the moment.
He said that the figure is still small if we bear in mind that there are approximately 800,000 persons with various disabilities in Serbia.
The conference is organised by the National Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (NOOIS) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
