Italy’s Calearo Group to build scientific-technological park in Nis

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic today talked with the owner of Calearo Group Massimo Calearo and welcomed his company to Serbia, as Calearo Group will invest in the scientific-technological park in Nis.

Following the meeting, Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic and Massimo Calearo announced this investment at a press conference, adding that it implies production as well as research and development activities.

Simonovic said that the arrival of the Italian company represents a new beginning for the development of electronic industry in Nis, a city which used to be the largest centre in this economic branch in the former Yugoslavia.

He said that the City of Nis is ready to endorse Calearo Group in terms of infrastructure, adding that the former Electronic Industry’s complex has the necessary infrastructure and will not require additional finances.

Simonovic noted that during the previous visit, Calearo Group representatives chose the building of former company EI Komponente, which will be leased to them.

Bearing in mind that the project is being expanded to include the research-development centre, additional facilities will be selected, he added.

Calearo stated that during May, his company will draft a plan and programme for developing activities in Nis and at the end of the month hold a meeting with the Mayor of Nis to present further activities.

We did not sign any documents on the project’s realisation today because the previous idea about production in Nis has been upgraded to include research activities, he explained.

Calearo Group is a hi-tech company and the owner of the brands Calearo, Telefunken, Quantum and Diesis.

The concern does business in four factories in Italy, Slovakia and Tunisia, it has a large production programme and integrates a great number of suppliers.

Their products are incorporated into prestigious automobile brands such as Bentley, Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia, Peugeot, Yamaha, Alfa Romeo, Renault and Citroen.
