Following the signing, Obradovic explained that according to the Memorandum, lessons of Chinese will begin tomorrow already for 2,462 students of primary and secondary schools.
The pilot project will last until the end of the current school year and if it is successful, Chinese language may be introduced as an optional school subject.
The goal of the project is to familiarise Serbian primary and secondary school students with the language, culture and tradition of China.
Wanxue said that 14 teachers from China will be engaged in teaching, recalling that the cultural exchange between the two countries has had a long history and can be further developed in the future.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic, who attended the signing of the memorandum, called on the people of Serbia to learn Chinese.
China today is the key factor for world peace and the economy and also very influential on political and economic developments in the world, he explained.
Jeremic, who is also chairman of Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation between Serbia and China, recalled that Serbia is a strategic partner of China, adding that this partnership will provide more visible results in the period to come.
