Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan Petrovic expressed his hope today that the programme of subsidising agricultural producers in 2012 will be rounded up next week.

Petrovic said at a press conference held after the session of the government that the need for precise targeting of money is obvious and that he believes that the subsidising according to production output is better, more effective and more useful for the farmers than the current subsidising pattern according to the area unit.
He noted that in the future the payment of pension contributions will not be a condition for receiving subsidies because farmers have realised that the payment of these contributions is to their own benefit and that is why this will no longer be a condition for obtaining government subsidies for agriculture.
Petrovic confirmed that the Serbian government will also present conditions for granting soft loans for purchasing irrigation equipment.
The Minister also announced large investments in irrigation in Serbia, noting that purchase of equipment will cost between €3 billion and €4 billion.
Director of the Office of Media Relations Milivoje Mihajlovic said that the Serbian government adopted the Bill ratifying the agreement on police cooperation between Serbia and Macedonia.
Serbia and Macedonia signed a Convention on police cooperation and this agreement will contribute to the establishment of successful cooperation between the two countries in the fight against organised crime, said Mihajlovic.
He recalled that Serbia is initiating a regional system of cooperation in the fight against organised crime.
Also the Serbian government adopted a Bill on the ratification of the agreement between Serbia and Macedonia on social security and fire protection strategy, he concluded.
