Markovic stressed that the conference aims to encourage an exchange of opinions, establish joint goals and apply good practice in the region in order to stimulate the realisation of microbudget films in a time of low film budgets due to the economic crisis.
Microbudget films are made with €75,000–€250,000, the Minister added, noting that film makers must rely on various ways of financing.
He announced that the Annual Conference of Culture Ministers of South East European states will be held on 20 April, recalling that it will be dedicated to material and immaterial cultural heritage.
Today’s conference is the first of two expert conferences preceding the Annual Conference.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society in cooperation with the Yugoslav Film Archive as part of Serbia’s presidency over the Council of Ministers of Culture of South East Europe, which Serbia took over from Romania in April 2011.
The participants in the expert conference are from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Macedonia, Slovenia, Romania and Serbia.
