In an interview for today’s issue of Blic daily, Jeremic said that Serbia does not have a crucial impact on global movements, but with its diplomatic engagement it has managed to gain respect and recognition.
When Serbia applied for OSCE presidency, some states reacted with disbelief, Jeremic said recalling that only ten OSCE member states backed Serbia at the time.
With hard work, obstacles were removed one by one and eventually Serbia secured the support of all OSCE members, from the Untied States and its neighbours to Russia and central Asian states, he added.
The Minister voiced his expectation that Serbia will secure the trust of the majority of states and start presiding over the UN General Assembly in September.
As for the question of whether Serbia will acquire EU candidate status in March, Jeremic said that this is difficult to predict, but stressed that efforts are being made to achieve this.
