Opening an exhibition “Serbia – lasting and remembering: selected documents from the Serbian Archives” at the Archives’ gallery, Djukic-Dejanovic underlined that this institution is the largest treasury and keeper of the country’s memory and past.
She voiced her gratitude to the Serbian Archives for opening the door to the past, all the way back to 1330.
One of the oldest documents at the Archives is the Charter of Decani, as well as the musical notation of the Serbian anthem and a document from the Berlin Congress, all of which testify to Serbia’s rich tradition, Djukic-Dejanovic stated.
Others exhibits include a document signed by Patriarch Aresenije Carnojevic in 1697, documents from the First Serbian Uprising, the passport of Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic, the Protocol of the session of St. Andrew's Assembly from 1858 , as well as minutes of the meetings of the Ministerial Council.
The exhibition also includes international agreements concluded following the declaration of independence of Serbia (the agreements with Italy, Germany, Great Britain, the United States and Russia), as well as photos from the Balkan Wars and the First World War, the telegram of the declaration of war of Austria-Hungary to Serbia in 1914 and the service document of Serbian scientist Milutin Milankovic.
