Milivoje Mihajlovic at today's press conference
Mihajlovic told a press conference following the government session that electricity supply will not be disabled to companies which perform vital functions in the country, such as heating plants, water and other utility companies, the food industry and similar.
He said that electricity consumption has reached record highs, therefore the government calls upon consumers to save energy, adding that there will be no restrictions for households.
The government today did not discuss the proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Dacic that 13, 14 and 17 February also be declared non-working days and linked with the national holiday, he stated.
The government has undertaken a series of measures to mitigate the consequences of inclement weather and extremely low temperatures and its priorities are rescuing endangered population, clearing up roads and delivering food and help to those in snow-bound areas.
Mihajlovic added that the government will put forth a proposal to the neighbouring countries to form a regional headquarters for emergency situations.
The government is considering that possibility since the entire region is at risk from floods if the snow melts down all of a sudden, said Mihajlovic.
He pointed out that a series of measures were taken to solve the problem of frozen rivers, which has put additional strain on the energy sector.
Mihajlovic said that the government at its session today adopted several bills, including the Bill on amendments to the Law on student standards and the Bill on the ratification of mutual recognition of driving licences between Serbia and Italy.
The government also adopted the Bill ratifying the agreement between Serbia and Moldova on readmission, the Bill on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the UN and Serbia, as well as the Bill on amendments to the Convention on international railway operators, said the Director of the Media Relations Office.
