Patriarch Irinej serves Christmas liturgy at Cathedral Church

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic, Minister of Religion and the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic and State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice Slobodan Homen attended today the Christmas liturgy at the Cathedral Church served by Serbian Patriarch Irinej.

The liturgy, which was ended by reading the Christmas epistle and with the communion, was attended by a large number of believers.
Serbian Patriarch Irinej consecrated the Yule log last night and attended the ritual of its burning in front of the Saint Sava Temple in Vracar, after which he led the evening holy service in the temple.
The burning of the Yule log and the holy service were attended by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and State Secretary at the Ministry of Religion and the Diaspora Bogoljub Sijakovic, as well as a large number of citizens.
The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church wished the believers a happy Christmas Eve and Christmas and stated that Yule log is the Serbian symbol and the first herald of the most joyous event - the birth of Jesus Christ.
