The Ministry stated that this document was signed for the purpose of establishing and regulating cooperation in harmonising regulations on cultural heritage with relevant international, European and comparative laws.
Based on this document, cooperation in other areas will be established which will include cultural institutions.
Since the adoption of the Law on cultural goods in 1994, Serbia has signed several international conventions of UNESCO and the Council of Europe, comitting it to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage on its territory.
The need for new laws that would regulate the protection of cultural heritage in a modern way was also higlighted in the Law culture adopted in 2009.
