In an interview with the daily "Press", referring to the reforms implemented in Serbia and the EU’s positive recommendation for Serbia’s candidate status, Sutanovac said that it is clear that Serbia has met all requirements and that the EU is closer than ever before.
He said that Serbia has the burden which no other state that wanted to become EU member has had. This is why we are seeking a sustainable solution that will be acceptable to all people living in Kosovo-Metohija as well as for the Union.
Commenting on the possibility that Serbia does not get the candidate status even next March, he said that the dates are not so crucial, but more important is modernisation of our society.
Sutanovac pointed out that there are European countries that are not EU members but however share the European system of values.
The story of the dates should not discourage us, but should motivate us to work more. If it all had depended only on us, we would have advanced toward Europe to a much greater extent long ago, concluded the Minister.
