At a press conference on the occasion of 10 December, International Human Rights Day, Markovic stressed that the Serbian government is working actively to implement these laws.
Society must aspire towards standards stated in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights because this is a precondition to make the world a better and a kinder place to live, Markovic observed.
The respect of human rights as an inalienable and inherent right, belonging to every human being is a condition for progress, freedom, justice and peace in the world, the Minister noted.
Markovic stressed that International Human Rights Day is a good opportunity to remember those who gave a contribution to the idea of human rights respect and those who are doing that today.
The Minister stressed that we should all treat others as we would like to be treated, not limiting anyone’s rights and freedoms.
With more tolerance, mutual understanding and respect of differences our society can become a better one, Markovic concluded.
