Borislav Stefanovic
Following a meeting with the head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District and four municipal presidents from northern Kosovo-Metohija, Stefanovic told a press conference that this is unacceptable to Serbia and that all solutions for these crossings have to be in line with the law and the Serbian Constitution, as well as UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
As for the implementation of agreements reached in Brussels, Stefanovic said that it will be continued as before, through the decisions of the Serbian government and its organs.
Citizens in the province are citizens of the Republic of Serbia and they have to respect the decisions made by their state, he underlined.
Stefanovic observed that on 21 November a new round of talks with representatives of the interim institutions in Pristina will be held in Brussels, at which the issues of administrative crossings, recognition of university degrees and representation of Pristina authorities at regional gatherings will be discussed.
He refuted the claims by Pristina representatives that agreement has already been reached about the crossings.
We cannot reach an agreement about the crossings at the moment because Pristina’s stance is unacceptable to us. There cannot be a flag of Kosovo at these administrative crossings, there cannot be border stones, inter-state agreements and prevention of the movement of Kosovo Serbs using Serbian licence plates and documents, Stefanovic reiterated.
He said that at the meeting with Serb representatives from the north of the province the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija was discussed, as well as the possibility to include experts from northern Kosovo into implementation groups and the negotiating team, especially when it comes to the implementation of the agreement about the freedom of movement and administrative crossing points.
Today’s talk was straightforward and constructive, although there were quite differing stances about certain issues, he added.
