Milivoje Mihajlovic
Speaking at a press conference, held after the government session, Mihajlovic underlined that the government requested KFOR, UNMIK and EULEX to fulfil their obligation and ensure peace and security for the population of the province.
The government assessed that any possible covering up of crimes directly encourages extremists and threatens the survival of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, he noted and pointed out that the number of incidents has increased in the province lately.
Mihajlovic stated that the government called upon Serbs in the province to refrain from violence, reiterating that dialogue is the only way to resolve all problems there, as well as that all international missions should remain status-neutral.
The government believes that problems in the province can be resolved through dialogue, calling upon the UN to back up a dialogue which will lead to just solutions, as well as upon international mission members to perform their duties in a status-neutral manner and within the mandates they have been granted, he reiterated.
He observed that the government is drafting a final version of a resolution on Kosovo-Metohija which will be adopted shortly and forwarded to the Serbian parliament.
Mihajlovic noted that the government today passed a Bill ratifying an agreement between the Serbian and Turkish governments on fighting against severe criminal acts, especially terrorism and organised crime.
He recalled that the agreement was signed on 10 March in Ankara, adding that cooperation between the two states will help to combat severe forms of crime.
The government today also adopted a Bill ratifying an agreement between Serbian and Bulgaria on social security, Mihajlovic added.
The government formed a team, headed by Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic, tasked with resolving the unfavourable situation caused by an excessive number of immigrants in Banja Koviljaca.
The team, which will also be led by representatives from the relevant ministries of justice, defence and the interior, will have a week to draft a solution for the problems plaguing Banja Koviljaca residents.
Mihajlovic remarked that the government decided to enrol 737 first-year PhD students at state-founded universities and grant them stipends from the state budget.
Thirty one faculties of the Belgrade University will enrol 498 students, the Arts University will take on 25 students, Kragujevac University 67, Nis University 117 and Pristina and Novi Pazar 15 students each, he specified.
