Ivo Andric’s life and work achievements to be observed within upcoming year

Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic today unveiled a quotation by writer Ivo Andric below a monument at Andricev Venac.

Markovic said that with this act, the Ministry marked the beginning of a series of events to celebrate the life and literary achievements of this great Serbian writer and diplomat and the only Serbian Nobel Prize winner. The events will be held within the next year.
The year of 2011 will see two anniversaries related to Ivo Andric – 100 years since the publication of his first literary work in Bosanska Vila magazine and 50 years since he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature, while in October 2012 the 120th anniversary of his birth will also be celebrated.
