Markovic welcomed the participants and recalled that the CEI is the oldest regional initiative.
The Minister thanked the experts who managed to save the items kept in the Yugoslav Film Archives, calling upon experts from the CEI and the region to make use of them to study films belonging to the cultural heritage of their countries.
Serbia is safeguarding entire layers of heritage from various cultures, of which we are very proud, he underlined.
Experts from 18 CEI countries (Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine) are taking part in the gathering, as well as several film and audiovisual experts from Great Britain and France.
The official opening was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps in Serbia, State Secretary of Culture Snezana Stojanovic-Plavsic and a number of domestic film makers.
The CEI expert meeting is held on the occasion of Serbia’s presidency over this regional organisation, founded in 1989.
