Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic stated that chances are high that Serbia will acquire EU candidate status before the end of the year.
In a statement to the Voice of America, Djelic said that the decision on the date for the beginning of talks will most likely have to wait until next year, adding that major obstacles on this path are misunderstandings between Serbia and some EU members over the issue of Kosovo-Metohija.
Speaking about the semi-annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Djelic welcomed the agreement enabling Serbia to draw
the first tranche of a loan approved by the World Bank.
