Markovic presented Bokova, who is Bulgarian, with a copy of Pate’s film about Sofia supposedly dating from 1908.
The film was discovered at the Yugoslav Film Archives and Bokova will deliver it to the Bulgarian film archives.
If it is established that Pate’s film is indeed from 1908, the beginning of the Bulgarian film history will be moved three years in the past, because the oldest Bulgarian move currently in existence was made in 1911.
Markovic said that this film proves that the Serbian Ministry of Culture, through its institutions, in this case the film archives, takes care of both the Serbian cultural heritage and that of other countries.
Reconstruction works on the building of the Yugoslav Film Archives, spanning around 4,700 square metres, were completed on 5 June 2011 and cost over RSD 477 million.
