Speaking at the roundtable discussion, themed “Contemporary Artistic Production in Southeast European Region – Heritage for the Future”, Markovic stressed the importance of sharing ideas through art, adding that the state must find ways, primarily financial ones, to create unique artistic space.
Art does not need reconciliation, but a provocation, and state is there to enable reconciliation if it educates artists and ensures safe space for artists to confront in their differences, the Minister observed.
The goal of the roundtable discussion is to draft a proposal of an action platform that should provide a basis for the improvement of cooperation between states and artists in the region and preserve the heritage of the future, whose part is contemporary art.
The ninth regional summit is held today at Viminacium near Kostolac.
