51st Guca trumpet festival begins

The 51st trumpet festival was formally opened today in Guca with the festival’s hymn "Sa Ovcara i Kablara" (From the Mountains of Ovcar and Kablar) and the shooting from mortars and it will last until 14 August.

The festival’s flag was hoisted by Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Konuzin, who was presented on this occasion with the Charter of the Festival.
After that, the exhibitions “The Story of Cloth“ and “Dreaming of Old House“ have been opened. This will be followed by art exhibitions of the Association of Self-Taught Painters and Sculptors from Dragacevo and of the Gallery of Naive Art from Kovacica, which will be opened later today.
During the festival, Guca will host 1,200 members of brass bands, folklore and singing groups, self-taught painters and sculptors, weavers, needlewomen and knitters. More than half a million of visitors from the country and abroad are expected to arrive and guests from England, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia and Congo will come in organised groups.
