In an interview with Tanjug news agency, Dacic pointed out that it is in Serbia’s interests that the problem in the north of the province gets solved in a peaceful manner and reiterated that in the process of European integration Serbia will not make concessions at the expense of its state and national interests.
In his opinion, it is necessary to continue dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and Serbia should also negotiate with representatives of the international community in Kosovo, regardless of the fact that many of their actions are not impartial or neutral regarding the province’s status.
The Minister recalled that in the past it had been pointed to a potential danger of transmitting conflicts and tensions from the territory of Kosovo-Metohija to the rest of Serbia, and noted that our security forces are ready to react to any attempt at provoking conflicts in Serbia.
It is important that in all parts of the country, even in the places where there is a smouldering conflict, the situation is calm.
He confirmed that Serbia leads an intense diplomatic activity in order to reach a peaceful and compromise solution to the new situation in Kosovo-Metohija, and reiterated the clear position of our country that the policy of imposing solutions by force is completely wrong.
Dacic underlined that in Kosovo-Metohija, which is under international protectorate, Serbia does not have army or police and that it is the obligation of the international forces to protect peace and stability and to strictly adhere to their mandate, which is absolutely neutral.
He expressed his hope that the upcoming days will show that the desire for new conflicts will not prevail in the crisis in northern Kosovo-Metohija, but the desire to seek solutions, even provisional ones.
It is necessary that all sides turn to dialogue without preconditions, because the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija can be resolved only through dialogue, Dacic concluded.
