Vukmirovic said that this institution will successfully implement the census of citizens, households and dwellings, as well as of agriculture.
He added that successful implementation of input-output system will show the country's economic system in much more detail.
Head of Operations II in the Delegation of the EU in Serbia Jose Antonio Gomez said that this is an EU-funded project, noting that most of the work has already been done, although the official deadline for the completion is 1 August.
Gomez said that joining the EU means the establishment of an efficient and sustainable statistical system in Serbia for the purpose of providing reliable, accurate and timely data.
These data are essential for decision making at various levels, as well as for planning, monitoring and implementation of transition and reform society, he explained, and confirmed that EU support will continue.
Project Director Janis Zahariadis said that thanks to the activities within the project the Statistics Office is prepared for successful implementation of the forthcoming census of agriculture in 2012, the first after 1960.
The project has a budget of €1,811,000 and its main goal is to help the Serbian statistics office to meet the terms of the European statistical system.
