Milivoje Mihajlovic at today's press conference
Mihajlovic told a press conference held after the government session that apart from passports, border police officers will be able to request other documents proving the purpose of travel to EU Member States.
He explained that the border police will be able to require from passengers hotel booking confirmation, a voucher from a tourism organisation, a letter of guarantee or travel insurance.
If requested by the border police, passengers will have to provide proof that they have sufficient funds to stay abroad – money, credit cards, checks, he said.
He also said that the cabinet today adopted the Bill ratifying an agreement between the Serbian government and NATO regarding the safety of information and the code of accession.
He explained that this a significant step in the involvement of Serbia in the Partnership for Peace programme, which opens the possibility to improve the military-technical cooperation, particularly in the field of education.
Mihajlovic said that the Serbian government considers that farmers’ requests for subsidies would have negative effects on the agrarian budget and would jeopardise the supply of meat and milk.
He pointed out that Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan Petrovic informed the government on farmers’ protests and demands.
The Serbian government is trying to find a realistic solution to subsidise farmers that would not jeopardise the supply of the domestic market with basic foodstuffs, said Mihajlovic.
He also said that the Serbian government today passed two Bills ratifying an agreement on the guarantee to Fiat Compact Automobili Srbija between Serbia and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
He explained that the projects worth €150 and €50 million refer to the development of the current car factory in Kragujevac.
Mihajlovic said that most of the funds will be spent to expand production capacity of the factory in Kragujevac, as well as the production of plastic parts for cars and other components.
Part of EIB’s loan will be used for the development of a new Fiat’s compact class model to be produced in FAS plants in Kragujevac, he said.
