Government takes measures to cut down number of false asylum seekers

Head of the Office of Media Relations Milivoje Mihajlovic stated that the government decided at today's session to decline the €1.1 billion offer made by Telekom Austria for the purchase of 51% of government shares in Telekom Srbija.

Mihajlovic told a press conference following the session that the government tasked the Ministry of Finance to inform Telekom Austria about this decision and to end the Telekom Srbija sale procedure.
The government was acquainted with the progress of the sale procedure and accepted recommendations by the working group, he noted.
Serbian government Public Relations Coordinator Slobodan Homen stated that the government decided to reduce the number of false asylum seekers from Serbia in the EU through short and long-term measures.
The session concluded that Serbia’s visa-free regime with the EU has not been compromised, he stressed, adding that the government decided to monitor more closely the increase in the number of false asylum seekers from the entire region, including Serbia.
The government discussed short and long-term measures that should lead to a reduction in the number of false asylum seekers and we expect to be successful in this respect, Homen concluded.
