Prince Felipe said that Belgrade is a city rich in historical and cultural tradition, and is thus an ideal place for a new Cervantes Institute.
Apart from Prince Felipe, the ceremony was attended by Princess Letizia of Asturias, President of Serbia-Montenegro Svetozar Marovic, Serbia-Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Draskovic and Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic.
Director of Cervantes Institute Cesar Antonio Molina said that the Institute offers latest methods for studying Spanish and the only internationally recognised diploma for the Spanish language. He announced that the Institute plans to organise a summer school of Spanish at the Adriatic seacoast.
Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia visited the library “Jose Hierro”. It contains 3,500 books and 650 audio and visual materials.
