Hamovic told a press conference that Serbia will be a guest of honour at the fair, where Serbian authors will have an opportunity to talk with their German readers, as well as guests from other countries.
This will be the first time that Serbian literature is represented by such a huge number of authors of that quality, he said, adding that 30 new books by Serbian authors have already been translated into German for this fair. The titles were selected by German publishers, he noted.
Hamovic underlined that after this event, activities on the promotion of Serbian literature in German speaking countries will be continued.
Visitors of the Leipzig Book Fair will be presented the plays of Biljana Srbljanovic, Maja Pelevic and Milena Markovic, published by Henschel Schauspiel from Berlin and “The Anthology of Contemporary Serbian Story", edited by Angela Richter and published by Noack & Block from Berlin.
Two poetry anthologies were prepared for this fair: "The Ticket - Panorama of Serbian Lyric Poetry in the 21st Century", prepared by Dragoslav Dedovic and published by Verlag Drava from Klagenfurt and “The Anthology of Serbian Poetry of the Second Half of the 20th Century", edited by Robert Hodel and published by Leipziger Literaturverlag.
