Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki signed today with directors of the public utility company Napredak from Sokobanja and the public water supply company Vodovod from Vlasotince, Sasa Drljaca and Nebojsa Stojanovic respectively, the contract on a €125,000 donation.
Jovanovic told a press conference held on the occasion of this donation that it is part of the project of support to improvement of the environment that aims to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
Tsunozaki said that Napredak company got a truck for collecting garbage worth €58,000, while Vodovod received a vehicle for maintaining the sewage system, which costs more than €66,000.
He said that he is sure that with the help of this donation, residents of Sokobanja will live in a better environment, and that the Japanese donation to Vlasotince will improve hygiene conditions in this town.
The funds were raised from the taxpayers of Japan, said Tsunozaki and recalled that the total amount of Japanese aid to Serbia exceeds €200 million and that 129 projects have been implemented so far through grant programmes for basic needs of citizens.
Environmental protection is one of the Japanese government’s main areas of interest in Serbia, the Japanese Ambassador said and expressed his hope that this assistance will further improve the friendly relations between the two countries.
