After signing the agreement with President of the Independent Police Trade Union Velimir Barbulov and President of the Police Trade Union of Serbia Veljko Mijailovic, Dacic said that this document is of historic importance for the police.
He underlined that for the first time in history, the Special collective agreement for police employees has placed focus on the rights of employees.
He explained that the special nature of police tasks required a special work on this contract so that police employees could be treated in an appropriate way, which means that they could be paid for overtime and night work, receive remuneration for public holidays and more.
Amendments to the Law on police will be drafted in the upcoming period, Dacic announced and added that on this occasion it was agreed to equalise the treatment of professional military personnel and police officers.
Barbulov pointed out that the Special collective agreement corrected injustice that has lasted for decades and noted that it defined the obligation of the police to provide legal protection to employees.
Mijailovic said that the signing of this agreement is a pioneering venture that will permanently resolve the relationship between employees and employers.
