Djelic said in interview to today’s issue of daily Politika that the head of the group is Chief of Border Police Nenad Banovic, and members are representatives of ten ministries, the EU Integration Office and the Commissariat for Refugees.
This group will track all statistics with our diplomatic and consular missions and with member states of the Schengen area, so that we can spot on time where and in what form appears the problem of illegal migration, Djelic explained.
The working group will be in contact with relevant authorities so that repressive measures could be taken in association with the Ministry of the Interior against groups which organise departure of illegal migrants to the EU.
He said that there are no signs that the EU might suspend the visa-free regime, but there will certainly be some modifications of the regulation which concerns the white Schengen list.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that this modification means that a number of Schengen states will be able to initiate a temporary suspension of the visa-free regime for the country which is a source to large illegal migration.
Serbia is not the first on this list, but it surely must be very cautious, Djelic concluded.
