Serbia achieves high level of cross-border cooperation

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that Serbia has achieved a high level of regional cooperation, especially in the field of border services.

Opening a meeting of the heads of border police in the Western Balkans, held in Belgrade, Dacic said that the cooperation of these services is the first condition to prevent crime from crossing the territory of one state to another.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the fact that our country will continue with intensive cooperation and give full contribution in the fight against organised crime in the region and beyond.
He recalled that Serbia has signed agreements and protocols on the establishment of joint border patrols with border police services of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro as well as agreements to exchange information with Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria.
Members of the border police have participated in joint trainings and cooperate in controlling the flow of goods and passengers at airports.
This action created the mechanisms for cooperation in the region, and also to exchange experiences, said Dacic.
US Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick said that the regional approach will allow better communication and cooperation with partners from the EU.
